Ramzy (“we,” “us,” or “our”) built EtherealEngine as a free, open-use application. This Privacy Policy explains how EtherealEngine handles your information.

Overview

EtherealEngine is a local, on-device AI chat application. All AI inference runs entirely on your device using downloaded language models. No conversation data, prompts, or AI responses are ever sent to external servers.

Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. Specifically:

No analytics or tracking — The app contains no analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or tracking tools.
No advertisements — The app contains no ad networks or ad-related data collection.
No user accounts — The app does not require registration or sign-in.

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party:

Chat history — Your conversations are saved in a local database (Room) on your device. You can delete individual chats at any time.
AI models — Model files you download are stored in your device’s app-specific storage.
App settings — Your preferences (temperature, context size, CPU threads, language, etc.) are stored locally via SharedPreferences.
Hugging Face API token (optional) — If you provide one, it is stored locally on your device and used solely to authenticate with the Hugging Face API for model browsing and downloads.

Network Usage

EtherealEngine uses internet access only for the following purposes:

Downloading AI models — Model files are downloaded from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) at your request.
Browsing available models — The app queries the Hugging Face API to display available models for download.

No other network requests are made. No user data, chat messages, prompts, or device information is transmitted.

Permissions

The app requests the following Android permissions:

Data Security

All data remains on your device under Android’s app sandbox.
Android’s File-Based Encryption (FBE) protects your data at rest.
No data is transmitted to external servers beyond the Hugging Face API for model downloads.

Children’s Privacy

EtherealEngine does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since no personal data is collected at all, the app does not pose specific risks to children’s privacy.

Third-Party Services

The app connects to Hugging Face (huggingface.co) solely for model browsing and downloading. Please refer to https://huggingface.co/privacy for how they handle requests to their servers.

No other third-party services, SDKs, or APIs are integrated.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. You are advised to review this page periodically.
